As the summer
months fade, estheticians and body technicians have two main
concerns for their clients skin care: Getting that sun-kissed
skin to remain glowing and repairing the damage created by
the sun while we enjoy outdoor activities during the summer
months.
So we offer these tips for end of summer transitional skin
care:
- Cleanse: Using a non-irritating cleanser
which will maintain lipid balance while gently removing
excess oil, dirt, and make up.
- Exfoliate: Once
that buttery tanned skin gives way to a dull, flaky finish;
clear away cellular debris with a gentle, effective scrub
that doesn’t irritate.
- Moisturize: Help
your dry or dehydrated skin by regularly applying moisturizers,
especially after baths or showers, and look for a lanolin-free
moisturizer. Maximum effectiveness comes from plant-based
ingredients that improve skin hydration.
- Repair Summer damage: This is a critical time to restore collagen, elastin, and
antioxidants to the skin. Look for serums and topical applications
containing vitamin C, which promote the synthesis of collagen
and blocks collagen break down.
Of course the best defense for sun damage is to avoid sunburn.
